David Robinson - Mandolin and Vocals

David began his professional music career immediately after high school when he was recruited to play banjo and tour the world with Minnesota bluegrass band Monroe Crossing. After 10 years with the band, David struck out on his own and settled down in Minneapolis where he has become an in-demand multi-instrumentalist. He has lent his talents on banjo, mandolin and guitar to many of the top bluegrass, country and Americana groups in the region, including: The Roe Family Singers, Reina Del Cid, Steam Machine and Back Up & Push as well as his own projects York & Robinson and The Robinson Roundup.

While David is well known for his skill on the banjo, his first stringed instrument was the mandolin and it remains a focus of his musical creativity. His high-energy style fuses the traditional mandolin techniques of Bill Monroe, Frank Wakefield and Ronnie McCoury with modern day music. In 2021, after filling-in with The High 48s on mandolin for the entire summer festival season, it was clear that David was a great fit and he was asked to become a full member of the band.

When he is not performing with the High 48s David remains busy recording and performing with various groups and teaching a select number of students from his home studio. Learn more about David at:
