New Music: Retreat

The High 48s "Retreat" live at Reverb & Echo Studio

We’re excited to share some new music with you, one of Anthony’s newer originals called “Retreat” that we have been playing in our live sets for a while.

A couple months back, we took up trip up to Hugo MN to the beautiful Reverb & Echo Studios to record a live video for the song and we think it turned out pretty good 🙂

A song for anyone who is down but not yet out. If it resonates with you, please give it a thumbs up 👍 and share it with a friend!!

Lyrics:

Holed up
I came here looking for some vacancy
Dark velvet curtains and a small brass key
Do not disturb this room please

Lay low
I’m trying to put my head in airplane mode
The world outside is burning, yes I know
But I’ve got a fever of my own

I’m not fit for fighting
I just need a good night sleep
There’s a face in this old mirror but it’s not me
No, it’s not me

Lie Still
On sheets of cotton, stale smoke and bleach
Listen to the humming of the ice machine
And just let the darkness cover me

Shut down
These horror stories looping in my head
No option left now but a hard reset
No time left for grieving or regret

My jaw is sore from smiling
Just tryin’ to keep the peace
No this is not surrender just retreat
just retreat

Repeat: Verse 1 / Chorus 1 & 2
