Just over six months ago, we were playing Anthony’s song “Great Northern Railroad” for the first time in a rehearsal when the light went on. We thought, Why not record an entire album of train songs?
Let’s just say it’s been a busy six months since then. In that time, we launched a successful Kickstarter campaign, drove down to Nashville and recorded an entire album at Randy Kohrs’ studio in a whirlwind three-day session, released the album and put together a CD release concert with two of our favorite musicians, jazz maestro Don Stiernberg and alt-country giant (he is actually pretty tall) Robbie Fulks.
We’re pleased to pronounce that concert a success! Last Friday, with a packed house and good vibes aplenty, and with the help of Robbie and Don, we played the new album in its entirety…and then some.
We feel it was one of our best performances ever, and we want to thank everyone who shared the evening with us. And we especially want to thank every one of you who have been with us over these last six months, making all of this possible.
We’re heading into festival season now, our busy time of year, and we hope we’ll see you on our travels, so we can do the shake and howdy – as they say in bluegrass – and say thanks again, in person.
Until then…
Your friends,
The High 48s (Anthony, Chad, Eric, Marty and Rich)
